In windows XP, whenever you open My Computer, it automatically searches for network files and printers. This will result in delay to display your Icons like Local Disk(C)….. Sometimes you may see an Icon of searching. After a few second you will see your disk partitions or folders. If you are facing such a problem, it is better to disable the automatic search for network files and printers. To do so, follow the following steps.
1. Open My Computer > Click on the Tools menu and select Folder Options...
2. Under Folder Options select the view tab. Uncheck the first box that says "Automatically search for network folders and printers"
3. Now Click on Apply button. You will experience faster appearance of Icons while opening My Computer.
