HOW TO PERFORM A DISK CLEAN – UP IN WINDOWS XP

It is better to clean up your computer Harddisk partitions at least once in three months. Because, while using the computer, operating system  accumulates so many files and links. By cleaning the disk, you can save some amount of space in the Hard Disk. Computer running on Windows XP operating system, follow the following steps to perform a Disk Clean UP.
1. Click on "Start" Button and then on My Computer.

CREATE USERS WITH LIMITED USER RIGHTS ON WINDOWS XP


It is important to have users with limited user rights on a computer when the computer is accessible to many people. The users with limited rights will not have access to tools which can make major changes to the whole computer. The limited user will not be able to install / uninstall all software (some exceptions are there). So to have a stable system configuration, it is advised to assign limited user rights to all other users on your computer. This is very much useful for the situations like offices, call centers, schools, browsing centers..
To configure users with limited rights, follow the steps:-
1. Click on "Start"  then  click on "Control Panel"

CREATE A LOGICAL DRIVE IN FREE SPACE OF EXTENDED DRIVE IN WINDOWS XP


To create Logical Drive in an existing Extended Partition's Free Space, in a Windows XP operating system follow the steps.(This presume that your Hard disk's Extended partition has some amount of Free space.)
1. Click on "Start" button, Go to "My Computer" and right click on it
2. Now select "Manage"  from the list

DEFRAGMENT YOUR COMPUTER HARD DISK DRIVE VOLUMES IN WINDOWS XP

In order to De-fragment your Computer Hard Disk Drive Volumes, follow the following steps.

1.(a).  Click on "Start" Button > Go to My Computer and Right Click on it and click "Manage"

HOW TO DISABLE WINDOWS XP BOOT LOGO

To disable windows XP boot logo, follow the following steps.
1. Click on Start Button, then click on Run.

Enable Quick appearence of Icons while opening Mycomputer in Windows XP


In windows XP, whenever you open My Computer, it automatically searches for network files and printers. This will result in delay to display your Icons like Local Disk(C)….. Sometimes you may see an Icon of searching. After a few second you will see your disk partitions or folders. If you are facing such a problem, it is better to disable the automatic search for network files and printers.  To do so, follow the following steps. 

1. Open My Computer > Click on the Tools menu and select Folder Options...

DISABLE ERROR REPORTING ON WINDOWS XP


 While using Windows XP operating system, you may propmt to report an error occured to any of the software you are using. This may occure due to some instable software or due to corruption of the software installed. You can prevent it by disbling error reporting option. Please do the following steps.


1.      Click on  Start  Button and go to My Computer tab then Right Click on My Computer tab and now select Properties tab
